Das Netzwerk für Mathematikerinnen* an der TU Wien

Eine Plattform für Austausch, Empowerment und wissenschaftliche Entfaltung an der TU Wien

fem*MA wurde 2022 von Sandra Müller und Gabriela Schranz-Kirlinger ins Leben gerufen. Unser Ziel ist es, Frauen* in der Mathematik sichtbarer zu machen, sie auf ihrem akademischen Weg zu unterstützen und mehr FLINTA*-Personen für die Welt der Mathematik zu begeistern.

Wer wir sind & was wir tun

Ob Studentin*, Doktorandin* oder Professorin* bei uns sind alle per Du. Wir möchten ein Ort für gegenseitige Unterstützung und starke Vernetzung untereinander sein. Wir wollen insbesondere FLINTA*-Personen motivieren, den Weg in die Forschung einzuschlagen und gezielt Wissenschaftlerinnen* sowie ihre Forschung sichtbar machen. Das erreichen wir durch:

  • Sichtbarkeit: Durch inspirierende Vorträge erfolgreicher Mathematikerinnen*. Wir rücken Wissenschaftlerinnen* und ihre Forschung ins Rampenlicht.
  • Events: Wir planen vielseitige Veranstaltungen unter dem Studienjahr. Von regelmäßigen Treffen, Unterstützungsmöglichkeiten bis hin zu Feiern wie dem Internationalen Tag der Frauen* in der Mathematik.
  • Anerkennung: Wir feiern bedeutende Talente durch die Verleihung des fem*MA Förderpreis.

Bei fem*MA sind alle FLINTA*-Personen der Mathematik herzlich willkommen. Du kannst Dich einfach bei unseren regelmäßigen Treffen austauschen oder Dich aktiv in einem unserer Teams (z. B. Student Connect oder Outreach) engagieren. Hier werden Fragen beantwortet, neue Ideen eingebracht und zukünftige Events geplant.

fem*MA was founded in 2022 by Sandra Müller and Gabriela Schranz-Kirlinger. Our mission is to increase the visibility of women in mathematics, support them on their academic journeys, and inspire more FLINTA* individuals to engage with the world of mathematics.

Who We Are & What We Do

Whether you are a student, doctoral candidate, or professor we are all on a first-name basis. We aim to create a space for mutual support and strong networking. Our goal is to motivate FLINTA* individuals to pursue careers in research and to highlight the achievements of FLINTA* scientists and their work. We achieve this through:

  • Visibility: Through inspiring talks by successful mathematicians, we put FLINTA* scientists and their research in the spotlight.
  • Events: From regular meetings and support initiatives to celebrations like the International Day of Women* in Mathematics, we organize diverse events throughout the academic year.
  • Recognition: We celebrate excellence by awarding the fem*MA Prize (fem*MA Förderpreis).

At fem*MA, all FLINTA individuals in mathematics at TU Wien are warmly welcome. You can simply join our regular meetings for an informal chat or get actively involved in one of our teams (e.g., Student Connect or Outreach). These meetings are a great place to ask questions, bring in new ideas, and plan upcoming events.
